Dear Head of Netball/Head of PE,

After a gap of three years, it gives us great pleasure to invite you to enter the School Sport Magazine National Schools U12, U13 and U15 Netball Cups 2020/21. Entry form below.

The knockout competitions will kick off in September 2020 with the finals set for March 2021 and will complement the excellent schools’ tournaments run by the sports’ national governing body. All three U12, U13 and U15 netball competitions ran successfully between 2013 and 2017.

The tournaments, with an entry fee of £32 for one, £62 for two or £90 for all three, will be open to all state and independent schools in England and Wales and will run throughout the 2020 Autumn term and 2021 Spring term with the final in March 2021.

Run on a local, county and regional knockout basis in the early rounds to avoid excess travel, the U12 (year 7), U13 (year 8) and U15 (year 10) competitions will be played mainly in midweek but weekends if preferred.

Rules and Regulations

The competitions shall forthwith be known as the School Sport Magazine National Schools U12, U13 and U15 Netball Cups.

The Laws of Netball will apply except where specified below.

The main competitions will run from September to March with the finals in March.

The competitions are open to bona-fide full-time students of the school for U12 (year 7), U13 (year 8) and U15 (year 10) pupils. Pupils may play up a year but not down.

The breaking of these regulations, either inadvertently or deliberately, will result in disqualification from the competition at the discretion of the organising committee.

The closing date for entries will be May 31 prior to the start of each competition, after which a draw, with closing dates for all rounds, and contact details will be sent to all competing schools.

An entry fee to cover administrative costs must be received before June 30. Failure to do so will mean your place being offered to a school on a reserve list.

The first-named team will be the home team and will be responsible for organising individual rounds in conjunction and agreement with the away team. But the away team should be equally as proactive in organising games to ensure the smooth running of the competition.

Matches will be midweek, unless both teams agree otherwise, and should be arranged as far in advance of the final date for organising the round to allow for postponements due to weather etc. Extensions will only be accepted in exceptional circumstances at the discretion of the organising committee.

Where the home team is unable to provide a suitable venue for the match, the fixture must be reversed and played at the away team venue to ensure the match is completed by the due date.

If a match is not played by the due date, the organising committee will progress one team to the next round based either on a voluntary walkover given to one team over the other, on one team’s inability to play the game or a random draw.

Teams will be 7-a-side. Matches shall consist of four quarters of 15 minutes each way. In the event of a draw after full-time, a golden goal will operate with the first team to score declared the winner.

The winning team will be responsible for notifying the result of the match as soon after completion by emailing [email protected] with details of any significant performances/events (Scorers/comebacks/other stories etc). Both christian and surname should be included. Team or action pictures are also welcome.

Reports and results will be included in School Sport Magazine and on the School Sport Magazine website www.schoolsportmag.co.uk on a regular basis.
