RULES AND REGULATIONS

The competitions shall forthwith be known as the School Sport Magazine National Schools U12, U13 and U15 Netball Cups.

The Laws of Netball will apply except where specified below.

The main competitions will run from September to March with the finals in March.

The competitions are open to bona-fide full-time students of the school for U12 (year 7), U13 (year 8) and U15 (year 10) pupils. Pupils may play up a year but not down.

The breaking of these regulations, either inadvertently or deliberately, will result in disqualification from the competition at the discretion of the organising committee.

The closing date for entries will be May 31 prior to the start of each competition, after which a draw, with closing dates for all rounds, and contact details will be sent to all competing schools.

An entry fee to cover administrative costs must be received before May 31. Schools may withdraw before May 31 but schools will be liable for payment if any notification of withdrawal is received after May 31 or no notification is received.

The first-named team will be the home team and will be responsible for organising individual rounds in conjunction and agreement with the away team. But the away team should be equally as proactive in organising games to ensure the smooth running of the competition.

Matches will be midweek, unless both teams agree otherwise, and should be arranged as far in advance of the final date for organising the round to allow for postponements due to weather etc. Extensions will only be accepted in exceptional circumstances at the discretion of the organising committee.

Where the home team is unable to provide a suitable venue for the match, the fixture must be reversed and played at the away team venue to ensure the match is completed by the due date.

If a match is not played by the due date, the organising committee will progress one team to the next round based either on a voluntary walkover given to one team over the other, on one team’s inability to play the game or a random draw.

Teams will be 7-a-side. Matches shall consist of four quarters of 15 minutes each way. In the event of a draw after full-time, a golden goal will operate with the first team to score declared the winner.

Neutral umpires are not compulsory until the finals (when they will be provided by the organisers) as some sides are not able or cannot afford to provide them.

The winning team will be responsible for notifying the result of the match as soon after completion by emailing [email protected] with details of any significant performances/events (Scorers/comebacks/other stories etc). Both christian and surname should be included. Team or action pictures are also welcome.
